The Opportunity

This is an opportunity for someone to build up their customer service experience, enhance their knowledge of organic foods and environmental issues, whilst working flexible hours in a supportive team. Previous retail experience is not necessary, but a friendly and enthusiastic attitude is a must. We’re a growing business so we expect all team members to get stuck in. There will be room to expand the role as we continue to grow and your opinions will be valued.

About Us The Good Life Refill is a sustainable living business that predominately sells dry foods and cleaning products without single use plastic. We have a bricks & motor store on Leighton Buzzard high street, a mobile van that goes to two markets, and an online store which offers a delivery service. We also offer occasional sustainability workshops, a pop up vegan cake event and sell recipe packs.

The Good Life Refill was set up in May 2020. Our values are the core of every business decision: Good Food; Build Community; Earth First; Passion Over Perfection. We aim to be a business our local community can look towards for fighting the climate crisis in their daily lives.

About the Role This is a great introductory role for those wanting to develop their skills and experience in a retail environment but would also suit someone returning to the sector after a break. The role-holder will support the shop manager on the Saturday running of the shop, and after sufficient training be responsible for the management of the shop on Saturdays & Sundays.

The main duty of the role is to provide high quality customer service by assisting customers with their refills. This involves greeting customers, weighing containers, giving guidance on products, and filling containers with products. Other responsibilities include restocking the shop floor, maintaining high standards of hygiene, preparing customer orders for delivery, putting together recipe packs and tracking of stock inventory.

Hours Saturday availability is essential. Once training is completed, Sunday availability is ideal. For the right candidate, there will be the option to alternate two Sundays a month with an alternative shift in the week, i.e. a Wednesday.

Hours on a Saturday will usually be: 9.00 until 1.30 or 1.00 until 5.30.

Hours on a Sunday will usually be: 9.30 - 2.30

Hours for weekday shifts are 4.5 hours.
